International Women’s Day 2023: Women’s Rights that every Indian lady should be aware of – Every year on March 8, people worldwide celebrate International Women’s Day to honour women’s achievements and involvement in the political, economic, social, and cultural realms of society.

Women’s Day 2023: On March 8 each year, the world celebrates International Women’s Day to honour the contributions and roles that women have made to society in the political, economic, social, and cultural arenas. Despite the advancements in technology, discrimination against women persists. Inequality and discrimination against women still exist worldwide.

It is significant to emphasise that the Indian constitution respects all citizens equally and protects a set of rules and rights for women. To celebrate International Women’s Day, the following important women’s rights are listed.

The Maternity Benefit Act permits women to take a complete 6-month vacation after giving birth without having their wages affected. It is a regulation that controls how maternity benefits and other benefits are offered, as well as how women are employed in particular enterprises at particular times before and after giving birth.

Women’s Rights – right to uncompensated legal representation


In order to undertake a case or legal action in a court, tribunal, or before a judicial authority, legal assistance refers to the provision of legal services to the disadvantaged and women who are unable to retain an attorney. Women who have been sexually abused are also given free legal rights under the Indian Constitution.

Women’s Rights – Right to identity and name-related privacy


The right to remain anonymous and the right to have their statements recorded in front of a female police officer or constable are both available to victims of rape or sexual assault. The victim’s name, identity, or picture cannot be disclosed to the media by police or any parties engaged in the case.
