On this day, January 26, 1950, the Constitution was promulgated for several reasons. After the independence of the country, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution on 26 November 1949. At the same time, on 26 January 1950, the Constitution was enacted with a democratic system of government. India was declared a full republic on this day. The main reason for promulgation of the Constitution on 26 January is that on this day in 1930, the Indian National Congress declared India’s complete independence.
